Luke's 5th Birthday

We had Luke's 5th birthday party this past weekend.  This was the first year that he was really excited about his birthday in the days leading up to it, counting down.  He woke up the day of his party and the hours couldn't pass fast enough.  He wanted a pool party and chose a football theme.  He invited his best friends from school and had a great time.

He picked a San Francisco 49ers cake (I think because Hunter was rooting for them in the Super Bowl.)  We came back to the house to open gifts.

Luke loved to have an entire weekend where he called the shots.  Happy Birthday my sweet boy, I hope it was great!!

Welcome Liam Stuart Meister

Mark and Robin's baby Liam Stuart Meister arrived on March 2nd and is absolutely precious.  I can't wait to introduce the boys to him when he is a bit older.

I can't imagine what it will be like at Gigi and Papa's in a year with all these boys running around!!

6 months old

Happy 1/2 year birthday Connor!!  You learned to sit up this month which is always so exciting and just makes you so much happier than having to lay on your back or stomach. You are able to move yourself in a complete circle when on your stomach to see what is going on around you or grab toys.

We also tried a couple new foods and you are finally getting the hang of eating solids.  Your favorite seems to be sweet potatoes and we have also tried bananas.  You are chewing on things all the time so I guess teeth are on the horizon.  You are using the paci occasionally but mostly like to chew on it rather than suck.

Using paci as a teether

You blow raspberries constantly, that is the first thing you do in the morning and have started grunting a lot too.  You are making up for all the crying you did when you were first born and rarely fuss at all unless you are hungry or tired.

You weighed 17lbs 0.5 oz and were 25 1/4 inches long.

As always Luke can't get enough of you.  He is still loving on you too much at time and we have to remind him to get off of you, but it is all in love.

Looking forward to your 6 month check up to see how big you are but we are about out of the 3-6 month clothes, I think you are finally getting longer as well as chubbier!!

Sleep of course hasn't changed much, you are up around 10, 2 and 4.  I tried cry it out for a week but it didn't seem to change this pattern at all, you would just cry for 45 min - 1 hour and then fall asleep for an hour only to start all over again.

We are savoring every minute with you and know it will only be a month or two before you are mobile and our worlds will change forever.

My First Meal, Part 1

We tried feeding Connor on Saturday for the first time.  As I said in his 5 month update he has started to become aware of what we put in our mouths and reaches for my food so I thought he was ready.  Turns out he wasn't a huge fan.  I tried again on Sunday with the same result.  We will wait another couple weeks and try again.  At least he didn't seem to have an allergy to oatmeal.....

His first bite

Starting to gag

Doesn't like it at all

5 months old

Time is flying by this time.  I can't believe Connor is 5 months old.  He is doing so many new things lately I hope I remember to capture all of them.
  • He found his feet this month.  Every time his feet are exposed (not often in the winter) he grabs them and plays with them.
  • He has many new sounds, bababa is his favorite.
  • He can blow raspberries now and is very juicy these days, is teething on the horizon?
  • He is super ticklish and belly laughs when you touch his stomach.
  • He is gaining strength in his back and can sit up with assistance from the boppy.
  • Rolls from back to front and has occasionally rolled front to back, but this may just be an accident....it's not consistent.
  • Had his first visit to the doctor on Saturday, a temp of about 100 and was really irritable so we wanted to check out those ears.  All clear so far, just a virus.  While there he weighed in at 15lbs 8oz.
  • While he would use the pacifier at night a month or so ago, he hasn't used it since, still can't decide if that's a good or bad thing.  They do soothe a crying baby instantly in the middle of the night, but you have to constantly get up to put it back in their mouth when they lose it.......
  • Which brings me to sleep, or lack there of!  My mom says I am too good a mother, which isn't a complement when it comes out that way.  It means that I react too quickly to every cry.  I thought I was doing a better job of that with this one, but obviously not, Connor is still waking every 2-3 hours at night and needs to be either nursed or held to get back to sleep.
I was going to try solids this weekend, but he ended up sick so I will postpone for next weekend when he is hopefully healthy.  He is definitely ready, he is eyeing our food and reaching for our forks and plates at meal time.

He is super interactive, stares at your face and smiles easily at you.  He loves his brothers, they can make him laugh best of all.

What's been going on?

So Kerry has been doing more traveling than usual lately which has made for some busy and tiring weeks.  Luke has become quite difficult to get to sleep at night since he is still napping in daycare (we had the same problem with Hunter about this age.)  I was exhausted and put everyone to bed and then went to sleep myself.  At around 11:15pm Connor started crying to be fed, while I was feeding him, I heard video game music.  When I was done with Connor I went downstairs to find Luke sitting on the couch, playing a game on my iPad!

Hunter is taking CCD classes preparing for his 1st Communion this Spring.  Part of that prep is going to confession.  He will go for the first time on Saturday, but his teacher wanted us to practice with him so he wouldn't be as nervous.  Last night we were roll playing and I asked him what he was going to confess.  He said three things:
  1. I have been getting bad reports home from school.
  2. I hit my brother.
  3. I steal.
I said, what do you steal? totally surprised!!  Remember, he said, that caramel after dinner (from our house.)  Oh, yes I remember but lets not say that.....

So we modified the list to:
  1. I get bad reports home from school about my behavior.
  2. I fight with my brother.
  3. I don't listen to my parents.
Much better, now mommy won't have to talk to the Priest after confession!!

Connor officially rolled over tonight. These photos were from his attempts last night.
