Side by Side by Side

I was only able to find the 6 month pictures for each electronically but here are the three boys at 6 months.  I think Hunter and Connor look most similar (but maybe its just the hair.)

Luke

Connor

7 months old

Connor is 7 months old!  Some new developments this month:
  • He has 1 tooth and is cutting the second
  • He is eating a wider variety of foods and really seems to like anything we try.
  • He is drinking water from a sippy cup and gets really excited when he sees me drinking from a cup and wants to drink from it too.
  • He is getting up on his knees so you know what's next, crawling!  The boys are not ready for Connor to be crawling, there are too many legos around and they are constantly leaving the basement door open.
  • Raspberry are still the first thing he wakes up doing in the morning.
  • Sleep - no progress has been made......
  • Finally, he is really hard to hold.  He is a super squirmy baby and is intent on seeing all angles at all times.  This means that he is pretty much rotating in circles the entire time you are holding him.

We just LOVE this baby, I want him to stay my baby forever, but he is growing up so fast.

Luke is 5

Luke is a happy, energetic, smart kid who loves his brothers, playing outside, legos and anything super hero.  He is doing great in pre-K this year and is incredibly conscientious about his school work and the homework he gets on the weekends.  He is the one to remember it needs to be done and always asks me if I have it to bring on Monday morning.  He has made friends with his new classmates but still refers to his friends from his Arlington school as his best friends - Artimus, Colby, Lev and Efron.

He really has gotten into legos in the last few months and has an incredible attention span to put the models together.  Most evenings when he is sent up to bed, you can find him building in his room.  He also stopped wearing pull ups to bed a few months prior to his birthday, something that couldn't come soon enough.

At his 5 year old check up he was 3ft 7 inches tall and weighed 40.1lbs.  Luke wants to do anything Hunter is doing and because of that is really good at most sports he tries.  We are holding back on signing him up for additional sports though. We tried a rec center soccer class in the fall, but it was just skills training with no competitive games and he didn't enjoy that, he wants to play games just like Hunter.

He is really close to reading, is able to spell most 3 letter words and really loves math.  He can do pretty complex addition and subtraction in his head (15+3-6) and loves to be quizzed while we are driving or at the dinner table.

Luke is really looking forward to our summer vacation, where we get to see all our McKay relatives and starting kindergarten in the fall.

Luke's 5th Birthday

We had Luke's 5th birthday party this past weekend.  This was the first year that he was really excited about his birthday in the days leading up to it, counting down.  He woke up the day of his party and the hours couldn't pass fast enough.  He wanted a pool party and chose a football theme.  He invited his best friends from school and had a great time.

He picked a San Francisco 49ers cake (I think because Hunter was rooting for them in the Super Bowl.)  We came back to the house to open gifts.

Luke loved to have an entire weekend where he called the shots.  Happy Birthday my sweet boy, I hope it was great!!

Welcome Liam Stuart Meister

Mark and Robin's baby Liam Stuart Meister arrived on March 2nd and is absolutely precious.  I can't wait to introduce the boys to him when he is a bit older.

I can't imagine what it will be like at Gigi and Papa's in a year with all these boys running around!!

6 months old

Happy 1/2 year birthday Connor!!  You learned to sit up this month which is always so exciting and just makes you so much happier than having to lay on your back or stomach. You are able to move yourself in a complete circle when on your stomach to see what is going on around you or grab toys.

We also tried a couple new foods and you are finally getting the hang of eating solids.  Your favorite seems to be sweet potatoes and we have also tried bananas.  You are chewing on things all the time so I guess teeth are on the horizon.  You are using the paci occasionally but mostly like to chew on it rather than suck.

Using paci as a teether

You blow raspberries constantly, that is the first thing you do in the morning and have started grunting a lot too.  You are making up for all the crying you did when you were first born and rarely fuss at all unless you are hungry or tired.

You weighed 17lbs 0.5 oz and were 25 1/4 inches long.

As always Luke can't get enough of you.  He is still loving on you too much at time and we have to remind him to get off of you, but it is all in love.

Looking forward to your 6 month check up to see how big you are but we are about out of the 3-6 month clothes, I think you are finally getting longer as well as chubbier!!

Sleep of course hasn't changed much, you are up around 10, 2 and 4.  I tried cry it out for a week but it didn't seem to change this pattern at all, you would just cry for 45 min - 1 hour and then fall asleep for an hour only to start all over again.

We are savoring every minute with you and know it will only be a month or two before you are mobile and our worlds will change forever.

My First Meal, Part 1

We tried feeding Connor on Saturday for the first time.  As I said in his 5 month update he has started to become aware of what we put in our mouths and reaches for my food so I thought he was ready.  Turns out he wasn't a huge fan.  I tried again on Sunday with the same result.  We will wait another couple weeks and try again.  At least he didn't seem to have an allergy to oatmeal.....

Doesn't like it at all
