An Early Birthday Present

We decided to give Hunter his big birthday present now, so he had the maximum time to use it while the weather is nice. Excited was an understatement. We took him to the bike shop a couple weeks ago to see which size was best and he couldn't understand why he couldn't leave with the bike right then.

After his haircut this morning Kerry took him to get the bike. When I came out to see him ride on it he was jumping up and down, so thrilled with the purchase, and even excited to wear the helmet!

9 Weeks

Luke had his 2 month doctor's appointment yesterday. Here are the stats:
12.3 lbs
22 1/2 inches long
He is the exact same length as Hunter was at this age, but Hunter was leaner, 11.8 lbs.
Luke seems to have caught his first cold from Hunter, so sleep has been awful. He also didn't handle his 4 shots well yesterday and was extremely fussy and had a low fever. He seems better today.
He is cooing up a storm, holding his head up really well and even pushing himself forward when sitting in his bouncy chair or on your lap.

7 Weeks

Here is our cutie. His baby acne seems to be clearing up, and he isn't as gassy in the middle of the night, yeah! Dinner time colic is getting better as well. All in all a much better week.
Last night he was sleeping in 3 hour stretches. You don't know how much better I feel. Hopefully we have made some lasting progress.

Mother's Day 2008

What a great Mother's Day. This is what Hunter made me in school, very cute.

We started the day with Hunter taking his first swimming lesson. He was quite the dare devil, with no problem jumping off the side, rolling over or kicking in the water. (I was a bit surprised because last summer he was pretty timid when we first got to the pool and took a while to warm up.)

In the evening we went to my parents house for dinner (Papa cooked!)

For me the best part was Luke's gift, he only woke every 3 hours! A first!

National Train Day 2008

Kerry took Hunter to the first National Train Day at Union Station. Hunter had a blast sitting in 3 different trains, eating lunch at Johnny Rockets and sampling chocolates at Neuhaus.

Truck Fest '08

Hunter, Luke and I met up with Rachel, Reagan and Addison for Herndon's Annual Truck Day. Hunter had such a great time riding on all the Public Works vehicles. I think their favorite was the garbage truck.

6 Weeks

New developments this week:

1) He is cooing when he smiles at you, adorable
2) Developed baby acne
3) Awake from 4 - 6 am with terrible gas. Nurse asked if I was consuming a lot of dairy, veggies or chocolate. Answered no to the first two, but chocolate, yes I have had an addiction to brownies lately! I don't know which is worse being awake at that time or giving up chocolate.
4) Hunter is still enamored by Luke and Luke is starting to notice Hunter and feel the same way!

Gigi's Birthday

We had my family over to celebrate my mom's/Gigi's birthday. We had a great time. Hunter of course helped me make the appetizers and dessert. He loves being in the kitchen.

My dad and Mark took turns entertaining Hunter in the backyard, thank you!

Unfortunately, Luke had a really tough night with colic, and his crying fits lasted for hours. Robin and Mark took turns shooshing and bouncing Luke. Everyone was really good about the constant noise, but I am sure they were also happy to say good night to us and go back to their quiet houses!

The Good Boy Chart

We have tried time outs as a punishment ever since Hunter needed discipline. I don't think we have seen the type of success that we had hoped. His naughty behaviors haven't improved. So we are trying another tactic. The good boy chart. Hunter receives a happy face sticker if he does/doesn't do one of the items listed on the chart. (The picture was taken on the first day.) If he gets a sticker each day for one of the items he gets to pick an activity (go to the park, go watch the boats, take a metro ride, etc.)

Although he is very excited to put the stickers on, his behavior hasn't improved yet, but we are still hopeful. No more tantrums is the biggest objective for us!
